Robert Bird Brown – RIP to a true soccer legend. In my 4 years at McDaniel and getting the opportunity to play, you quickly learned of the Carroll County pillars of soccer. Bird was easily one of those! He seemed involved in every aspect of the soccer community at every level. His welcoming smile, support of everything soccer, love and passion for the game, and soccer knowledge made him a true legend.

I’ll never forget all the times at CISC for our league games and the great Wolves tournament! The world and soccer community lost one of the best, but damn were we blessed! RIP Bird, I’ll enjoy a stout and a fire on the mountain pizza from Mountain State Brewing for you!

Today, we lost our brother-in-arms Robert “Bird” Brown. For more than three decades, Bird served as a coach, a teacher, a leader, an advocate, a mentor, a champion, a visionary, and a friend to so many in Carroll County and beyond.

Our hearts go out to Bird’s wife Anne, his sons Michael, Ryan, and Matt as well as to his players, his students, his peers, and the many others Bird touched during his life. A memorial has been set up at the Westminster High School’s Ruby Field, if anyone would like to drop off flowers, a card, or a memento.

Tonight we mourn the loss of Coach Robert “Bird” Brown.
Coach Bird was a long time coach and educator who impacted the lives of many Westminster Owls. His contributions on and off the field have left a lasting impacting on the entire Westminster and Carroll County community, and while he is not here physically, his spirit will be forever in the halls and on the field at Westminster High School.

While the Carroll County schools are fierce foes on the field, we are all family off of it and tonight, we ask that you keep our entire Westminster Owl family in your thoughts.

RIP Coach
