Shona Miko Musgrave died on March 22 unexpectedly. She touched many people’s lives with her brilliant light and great big heart. She loved hearts, finding them everywhere in nature to photograph and celebrate.

She was my best friend for almost 50 years, sharing growth, dreams, raising children, loving dogs, making films, adventures and hats, living through loss and health challenges and always coming out the other side dancing and singing.

Not everyone gets to have a best friend and I feel so blessed to have had Shona as my confidant, collaborator, and partner in crime.

Shona will be dearly missed by all of us who love her; her beautiful children, her loving sister and mother, and the wide community of special people she gathered.

 

Sad news today. Shona Musgrave, our Post Supervisor for Seasons 1-6 of @wcth_tv, passed away on March 22nd of this year.

Shona’s demeanor was gentle and her voice was too, but her smile and laugh could fill up a room. I will always remember Shona’s care and passion for WCTH, and for all of us. She approached each ADR session with kindness and patience. Her commitment to perfecting each sequence in every episode was inspiring. But Shona wasn’t all work and no play. She loved dressing up in costume, sailing, nature, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog Georgia (who often joined her in the booth).

Shona posted a lot of photos of hearts she found in nature on her Instagram page – things like leaves and stones and flowers. She also included this sentiment in her bio: “Hearts have always been a symbolic way to navigate through life.” I don’t know if the Heart in our show’s title brought her to us, but whatever the reason – she certainly brought a lot of heart to our show and our family.

 

My heart is broken 💔 I am in shock 💔 Shona was one of my best friends in High School, the first person I Came Out to as Gay one tear filled NYE high school party.

She enthusiastically accepted my invitation to be my date to my High School Graduation Prom. We stayed connected for a few years afterwards, but then drifted apart as so often happens.

We reconnected online about 15 years ago and actually managed to visit in person a few years back. She was and continued to be a deeply creative, kind, loving, tender soul. I will miss her presence on this earth immensely, as will all the people she touched with her smile, openness and kindness💔 Rest in Peace dear Shona.

Mother, daughter, sister, friend. Our beautiful Shona passed away on March 22, 2021. Christine, Zak, Sophie, Stephanie and Rob are devastated beyond measure.

Shona was a bright energy that impacted the life of so many. Her heart was immense and so this loss is also immense. We plan to gather to honour this rare and shinning soul when it’s safe to do so. In the meantime please consider taking a walk or hike in the woods, a bike ride, a paddle on the ocean, a cross country ski trip, see hearts in everyday objects, love with your whole heart or simply smile at a stranger and think of her.

Hold your loved ones tight and remember love is all you really need.

Though our words can do little, we hope our thoughts and prayers will encourage you this period and always as you mourn, the passing soul.

May you find comfort knowing that life continues forever in heaven even as the memories shared live forever in our hearts.
