My heart hurts and is broken. I’ve been trying to wrap my head around the news of your passing and honestly, I just can’t. I’ve been trying to find the words and I’m still in disbelief. Ashley Wegner you were taken too soon. You had the most beautiful soul and a passion for everything you did. There isn’t a memory I have of you that wasn’t full of life, love, and passion. You truly impacted every single person you interacted with and you made us all better human beings for knowing you and being around you.
You went out of your way to support others and tackle any challenge. You were an amazing teacher and a strong leader. You continued to persevere in getting your doctorate even when it got hard. You were a mentor and friend to everyone and I couldn’t wait to see what mentorship would look like when you finished your dissertation. Your smile and laugh were so contagious, but you also stood up for what you believed was best for kids.
I always knew when you Mallory and Katey had been in my office taking some candy, but I loved it even more when I could catch you all in the act. Those quick conversations with you all are some of my favorite memories. I’m so grateful you were apart of my life and the lives of so many others. You taught me so much and I’ll forever have a special place for you in my heart.
