Another friend has gone and departed this realm and depleted mine. I can not attend the funeral; that is the second time this slow passed month. I find this sad and heart breaking. Firstly “Dear Sarah Beerbohm” a laughing cavalier of a woman and now Ben Price, a plasterer, fisherman and metal detector enthusiast from Builth Wells. I shall have to travel there in my mind, so that I am tucked small into the gap in the hills where the Wye winds between and beneath the great Eppynt bank and the Carneddau hill.
I long for the silent embrace of the green hills and just to stand on those great Norman spans of that 12th Century bridge across the Wye, just stand, as the river pulses and surges south towards its reunion with the Severn, feel the silent throb of the river surrounded by those dull green, low hills and mark these passings. Grey mists on the hill tops, a scud of rain across them….and the river running in flood….
Though our words can do little, we hope our thoughts and prayers will you this period and always as you mourn the passing of his soul.
May you find comfort knowing that he lives forever in heaven even as his memory lives forever in our heart.
