It is with great sadness that we offer our condolences to local artist Billy Jacobs’ family, friends, and followers on his passing.
Jacobs’ artwork has been featured in many retail establishments here in Ohio’s Amish Country where he would often attend signing events.

The world lost a very special and talented human being last night. I met Billy Jacobs many years ago in Aspen at the annual Aspen in October event in celebration of the life of John Denver. That damn Covid ended up taking his life.

I remember the first year he came to Aspen and he sort of sat off to the side on the floor playing his mandolin during the nightly sing-a-longs. I invited him to come closer and he was like “No, that’s okay, I’m good.” By the next year he was joining in more and became a friend to all. I’ll never forget his spot-on impersonations of John Wayne among others that kept us in laughter.

Aside from playing the mandolin and guitar and singing, Billy’s true talent lied in his water color paintings. He had an art gallery in Ohio and he painted beautiful folk art pictures of farms, barns, covered bridges, country churches, you name it. I encourage you all to go to Billy Jacobs Art Gallery and take a look at the photos of his paintings. They are amazing.

P.S. Forgot to say that this afternoon I was in a thrift store and what came playing overhead?…The Memories Bring Back You. Brought on some tears. I was actually thinking of that song after I heard the news.
