Our beloved Tyler Curtis and his brother  Chace Curtis aged 16 years and 14 years respectively has tragically passed away after their Lexus car crashed into a tree and split in two, on Thursday 25th Feb. 2021.

The tight-knit community of Orland is shattered after the death of 16-year-old Tyler Curtis and 14-year-old Chace Curtis.

The two brothers were killed after the car they were riding in crashed into a tree Thursday afternoon. WANE 15’s Briana Brownlee spoke to people in the Orland, where the boys grew up, and they were described as very respectful, sweet, and athletic.

The two brothers were killed after their vehicle crashed into a tree and split in two. According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Lexus that the brothers were in was speeding down C.R. 675 West when the driver lost control over a small hill in the roadway. The vehicle crossed the northbound lane and traveled off the roadway, and hit a tree nearly head-on. The impact split the sedan in two, and the teens were ejected.

“They used to come in here and get their drinks before their games, really good, really good kids and very well mannered,” said Rockele Gruss. “I am devastated of their loss, they also went to school with my kids too.”

Tyler Curtis’s obituary is not public at the time, we will share more as we learn about the obituary and possibly funeral.

(ORLAND) – Two teenage brothers have died as a result of their vehicle crashing into a tree.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says they were called at 5:23 PM Thursday to County Road 675 West, south of State Road 120, just east of Orland.

Deputies determined that 16 year old Tyler Curtis was driving south on County Road 675 West at a high rate of speed. He lost control of the car after going over a small hill.

The automobile crossed into the northbound lane, went off the road and struck a tree, which caused the vehicle to split in two. Both Tyler Curtis and his 14 year old brother Chace, were ejected.

Tyler Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene. Chace was flown by Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center where he passed away from his injuries.

It’s not known if the teens were wearing their seat belts, but the airbags in the car did deploy.

Both young men were student-athletes at Prairie Heights High School. Tyler was a junior and a Regional wrestling qualifier. Chace was a freshman.

Assisting Sheriff’s Office personnel were the Orland Fire Rescue, the Angola Police Department and Steuben County EMS. The incident is still under investigation.
