In the loving memory of Dennis Askew, we are saddened to inform that Dennis Askew, a beloved one and loyal friend, has passed away on 28th January, 2021.
A unique soul with a great personality has an amazing sense of humour, diligent and caring.
He always brought light to every room entered. And will be dearly missed by family, friends and everyone.

It breaks my heart to know Dennis Askew no longer walks the earth. He was a wonderful human being with a heart bigger than the universe. While I only knew him professionally for a few, too short years, I so admired him for who he was – always true to himself – fun, creative, open and loving.
Our hearts ache for his family, the UNCG School of Music family and the music community. We will miss him terribly.
EMF is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Dennis AsKew, a member of the EMF Board of Directors and Chair of the UNCG School of Music. Dennis was a generous educator, a dedicated musician, and a supportive partner and mentor. He was also a delightful and hilarious presenter (just look back to last summer’s EMF Conversations!) We were fortunate to enjoy his leadership and passion for our Festival and for music education and performance in Greensboro and across the nation. We will keep the AsKew family and music community in our thoughts.
