We are devastated by the tragic, sudden passing of our former goalkeeper and friend, Luke Messick. He was killed in a car accident Monday night.

Luke’s smile, energy and passion were contagious. He had a larger than life personality and a gift for making people laugh. You couldn’t help but love Luke Messick.
A Hampton native and graduate of Kecoughtan High School, Luke played for Lionsbridge FC in 2018 and 2019. He remained close with many of the team’s current players, coaches and staff, and was active with numerous area clubs. He was in attendance at Lionsbridge’s season opener last week at Virginia Beach to cheer on his former teammates.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Messick family and Luke’s loved ones. This video, taken as Lionsbridge defeated Chowan in penalties in 2019, is how we’ll remember our friend, Luke Messick: full of joy.
