Sad to hear the news of Pat Martino’s death. A great musician, one of the many fine guitarists to come out of South Philadelphia. From his days as a teenager touring with Lloyd Price, to his tenure as a sideman for artists like Trudy Pitts and Willis “Gatortail” Jackson, to his outstanding solo work, Pat charted a unique path in jazz. A deep thinker about life and music, whose spirit will live on through his music.
